She wrote for various artists, including Nina Rose, Lydia Jazmine, Carol Nantongo, Vinka, and Eddy Kenzo. Azawi joined a band in 2015 while working as a waiter in her mother's restaurant. Her breakthrough came in January 2020 with the release of her first single, "Quinamino." In November of the same year, Swangz Avenue signed her, propelling her career to greater heights.
