Biography
As Willy Mukabya, affectionately known as Musanyusa, I have proudly carried the torch of Ugandan 'Kadongo Kamu' music since the inception of my career in 1987. It fills me with joy to recount the journey that has led me to share the stage with timeless hits such as "Abantu balamu
See Morebayina fitina," "Kayanda," "Akagali kange," "Omwenzi omusiru," "Ekijanjalo kifa nfumba," "Abagisu nembalu," and numerous others.
Every melody I compose is a testament to the rich tapestry of our society, weaving together stories of social and cultural significance. My fellow countrymen and women have graciously bestowed upon me the title of a legend in the realm of Kadongo Kamu, an honor I hold dear to my heart.
It was during the vibrant musical era of the 1980s that I took my first steps into the limelight, founding the Talanta African Singers—a musical ensemble that continues to resonate with audiences to this day. This endeavor has been a labor of love, allowing me to channel the essence of our heritage through the power of song.
One of the defining moments of my career came in the late 1980s with the release of "Kayanda 1 & 2," a poignant narrative depicting the daring romance between a houseboy and his employer's wife. This tale struck a chord with audiences, cementing my reputation as a master storyteller.
Among the albums that I have had the privilege to share with the world, "Teri mulimu mubi" stands out as a beacon of wisdom, urging individuals not to discriminate when seeking employment. "Wasi-Wasi" serves as a timely reminder to taxi drivers to exercise caution while ferrying passengers, while "Mukulike Olutalo" pays homage to the bravery of those who fought in the 1986 NRM liberation war.
Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to produce eight albums, each a reflection of my unwavering commitment to my craft. From "Akaggaali," a six-track audio tape, to "Ekibuga Ndombolo," my very first music video, every endeavor has been a labor of love—a testament to my passion for music and storytelling. As Willy Mukabya, affectionately known as Musanyusa, I have proudly carried the torch of Ugandan 'Kadongo Kamu' music since the inception of my career in 1987.
